DANCE COORDINATOR
DANCE INSTRUCTOR

Emily Chalmers

Hello! I'm Ms. Emily, Dance Coordinator at Pep & Pizzazz!

Dance has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began dancing at the age of three and, by age ten, was training with the Pittsburgh Youth Ballet under the direction of Jean Gedeon. Throughout high school, I had the opportunity to study with instructors from the New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre while performing beloved classical ballets including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and George Balanchine's Serenade.

After high school, I continued my training with Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, Mississippi, where I had the privilege of combining my love of ballet with ministry. Since then, I've continued performing and teaching both in the United States and internationally, sharing ballet through ministry opportunities in India and South America, while also teaching ballet and ballroom dance in my hometown of Pittsburgh.

Today, I have the privilege of serving as Dance Coordinator at Pep & Pizzazz. One of my greatest passions is helping students build a strong technical foundation that allows them to dance with confidence, artistry, and excellence. I love developing dancers from their very first ballet class through advanced training, creating a pathway that prepares students for pointe work safely, intentionally, and with a lifelong appreciation for proper technique.

While I love the beauty and discipline of ballet, what I love even more is watching students grow. Seeing a dancer accomplish a goal, gain confidence, and discover the joy that comes from hard work is one of the greatest rewards of teaching.

Outside of the studio, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband and our sweet daughter. Our family is also excited to welcome our second little one this winter, and we're looking forward to this new season together!
